XI Giornate del Contemporaneo, Urbania
Year 2019
Title St. Christopher carrying the weight of proportions
Piece made in Urbania, Italy for XI Giornate del Contemporaneo. A site-specific personal take on the St. Christopher carrying the infant Christ theme that metaphorically relates to the place on which it is painted, an old building severely damaged by aerial bombings during WWII then rebuilt.
The sense of heavyness is here represented by Dührer's Melencolia I geometrical shape weighing on the shoulders of the figure, while his anatomical deformation is caused by the progressive contraction of a process element, such as the grid, now turned into art element.
